Spring Is Here...

...and it really FEELS like a transitional time, y'know? Had a nice chunk of voiceover jobs last week Tuesday, then the crickets chirped until today, when a got one on-camera audition and three v.o. auditions. Fortunately, the rest of my life stabilized just a little during this time, and hopefully it's a trend that will continue.

The thought occurred to me yesterday that I need to start prepping for Equity generals soon, but I just as suddenly realized how very, very tired I am these days. Gotta get a handle on that...

Hey Evan - what are Equity generals?

Sorry... by "Equity generals" I mean season auditions for Equity theatres, which are generally held during the warmer months. Often it's on a theatre by theatre basis (you go to Steppenwolf for the Steppenwolf auditions), but I've been to unified auditions before as well (back in the day of the "Qualified Performer" Audition card, no longer available).

To tell the truth, I'm going into this like it's a new experience because, for all intents and purposes, it is. Things have changed since I was last hammering away at stage auditions full-time. I'm sure I'll post my discoveries as I stumble across them face-first.

I'm in the same boat. Haven't hammered away at stage auditions full-time in a while. It's been an eye opener the last month of so, so strap yourself in. I've been close on everything, called back on everything, but no one has cast me yet. I have spent a lot of time preparing material and getting my schedule in line for all this so I may have to cut back a bit if this keeps going the way it is. The worst of my suspicions is that people have open auditions and then end of casting people whose work they are familiar with anyone. If this is the case, guys, just get on the phone with people whose work you like in town who you think would be right for the roles you are casting and see if they are available instead of wasting all of our time..
